Dear Saints,
Greetings in Jesus name.
Let me wish all the fathers in advance – HAPPY FATHERS DAY!

As I was thinking about the Fathers Day, the Lord brought to my mind a couple of exemplary fathers. In Ephesians 3:14-15, the Apostle Paul talks about our Eternal Father the One in whose name all the families in heaven and on earth are named.

The Bible says that as Christ is the head of the church so man is the head of the family. God has called fathers to be examples for their families.
Paul says that the man has to care for the family and if he cannot rule his house hold how can he oversee the church? Being a father is a very responsible position. The whole family depends on him and follows his example.
This is why a Christian father should follow his eternal Father’s example.
As the Father hath loved Jesus so we must love our children – with everlasting love. Jesus talked about the Father many times while preaching to the multitudes and speaking to His disciples. John 3, 15, 17.

The Bible talks about many fathers who left either good impression or bad, on the family. Let us look at a couple of these.

In Genesis 15 God testifies about Abraham saying that He knew Abraham that He would instruct his family about God and about following his righteousness and justice. Gen 18:19. We have to do the same – nowadays many fathers don’t pay any attention to their children or take care of their needs. A true and godly father always gives, loves and instructs his children about God and His truth, and also lives a life that impacts his family for good and for God. If you fail to instruct your children to grow in God and His Word you will certainly loose them to the world.

In the Bible we see that Eli failed to correct his sons and they brought shame to Israel and the wrath of God on themselves and died an untimely death. 1 Samuel 1 & 2.

But look to Job. He was contrary to what Eli was. He would wake up every morning and offer sacrifices to God for his children. Job 1:5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt- offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and renounced God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.
And so we are to do the same, spiritually offering prayers and sacrifices to God for our family.

May the Lord help us to be exemplary parents.
