“Are you Jesus Christ?”

… put on the Lord Jesus Christ…Romans 13:14

For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Galatians 3:27

Put on the Lord Jesus Christ means to be clothed in Christ.

Literally to wear Him; dress up in Him. When we wake up in the morning we put on Jesus Christ. We take His actions and reactions to be ours. We take our mindset which is our thoughts and we put them aside and we take on the mind of Christ (In Philippians 2:5 Paul says Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…) We have to impersonate Him. We need to imitate Him.

I wonder if you have heard the story of a little crippled child at the railway station who was selling newspapers and other articles – these were knocked off the cart by some person in a hurry; no one came to help the child until another man (also in a hurry) saw the little child, stopped and helped the little one pick up his things, rearrange them on his cart, and give him a little something besides. As the man was leaving the child called out and asked the man “are you Jesus Christ?”

Oh that we too would be mistaken for Christ!

Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in me
All His wonderful passion and purity;
O Thou Spirit Divine, all my nature refine
Till the beauty of Jesus be seen in me.
